Severe Weather Impact in Hyderabad

On Sunday evening, Hyderabad experienced intense rainfall, leading to significant waterlogging on the streets and traffic disruptions across various locations. Authorities are concerned that at least two individuals may have been swept away in a drain.


According to police reports, the incident occurred around 8:30 PM due to rising water levels in Afzal Sagar caused by the heavy downpour. Assistant Police Commissioner B. Kishan Kumar informed a news outlet that two people were carried away by the drain, and a search operation has been initiated to locate them, but they have not yet been found.


The Telangana Development Planning Society reported that the highest rainfall recorded was 124 millimeters at the Buddhist Nagar community hall in Musheerabad between 8:30 AM and 11:00 PM, followed by 118.5 mm in MCH Colony and 114.3 mm at the Jawahar Nagar community hall.


The torrential rain resulted in water accumulation in several areas. However, the city's disaster management personnel, traffic police, and civic teams worked diligently to pump out water from the flooded zones and ensure smooth traffic flow.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning indicating that from 8:30 PM on Sunday until 8:30 AM on September 15, heavy rainfall is expected in various districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadrachalam Kothagudem, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahbubnagar, and Narayanpet.
